Last updated August 2026. Here is the short, plain-language version of how AlbumLift handles your information.
AlbumLift uses the photos you upload only to detect, crop, rotate, restore, and export them. We don't require an account, sell your information, run ads, or use your photos to train AI.
To restore your work after a refresh, we save file names and editing choices in your browser and in a temporary server workspace. The server copy expires after 24 hours of inactivity; your browser may remember edits for 30 days and may privately cache reduced preview thumbnails for up to 24 hours. One signed cookie connects your browser to its workspace, prevents other visitors from opening it, and lets us count an anonymous browser consistently. It does not identify you by name or track you across websites.
We use PostHog to understand anonymous use of AlbumLift, such as page visits, scans uploaded, workflow steps reached, and completed exports. AlbumLift sends PostHog a one-way anonymous browser identifier and a small set of product events. We disable automatic click capture, user profiles, location lookup, and session replay. We do not send photos, file names, captions, dates, OCR results, crop coordinates, workspace identifiers, or raw cookie values.
If you send feedback, we record the workflow observations and any improvement or feature-request text you choose to provide. Please do not include private photo details in written feedback. Our hosting, analytics, and error-monitoring providers process only the technical or feedback data needed to provide those services.
Photos are encrypted in transit and stored by our hosting provider while you work. Server copies are deleted after export, or after 24 hours of inactivity if you leave without exporting. We do not keep photo backups. You can clear temporarily cached previews through your browser's site-data controls.
If you choose automatic orientation, AlbumLift sends a reduced copy of each selected photo to Google Cloud Vision to detect face angle or scene objects. This detects orientation; it does not identify the people in a photo.
You can skip automatic orientation, dismiss the automatic feedback prompt, clear saved data through your browser, or start a new session to delete the current workspace. Clearing AlbumLift's cookie also resets its anonymous visitor identifier. If our practices change, we will update this page and its date.
